The Boston Red Sox were hoping that having a fully healthy Trevor Story at shortstop was going to be a huge lift to their lineup for the 2024 season. But in the bottom of the fourth inning of Friday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, the rest of the team watched as Story had to leave the game due to injury.
Story attempted to dive for a ground ball in the hole at short, but he landed awkwardly with his left arm completely extended. Then he immediately started rolling on the ground in pain.
Story remained on the ground for several minutes before slowly walking off the field with his left arm hanging down.Â
