Welcome to the Minor League Update. Three times a week, we tell you the latest about what happened to the prospects you care about, and maybe a few more you should.

Wednesday, January 17

Keyber Rodriguez, SS, Texas Rangers (LVBP Tigres de Aragua): 1-4, RBI.
Rodríguez didn’t have an especially strong regular season campaign earlier this winter, but he has been the Keyber of the month in January, hitting well over .300 in postseason action. The two-time Hickory Crawdad is a slap-hitting utility infield type in the Rangers org.

Brayan Perez, LHP, Seattle Mariners (LVBP Cardenales de Lara): 3 ⅓ IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 1 K.
I featured Pérez on last Friday’s edition of this program, and am following up to note that the 23-year-old had a much stronger outing this week. As they do in MLB, playoff matchups tend to devolve into bullpen games.
